Welcome to McLean County's online career portal!

On August 28, 2017, McLean County Government launched a new online career site.  This portal will allow you to create a personal profile/account, save information to that profile, apply for posted positions, and learn more about working for McLean County.  All applicants (including those with previous accounts on our other system) must create an account.  This allows you to easily save information and documents and easily apply for positions.

McLean County has a workforce of approximately 800 people serving the community as office support, probation officers, nurses, engineers, park attendants, corrections officers, accountants, law enforcement, and much more.  This site updates frequently -- please sign up for automated updates on open positions.

Position Announcement

Network Administrator

Starting Salary Range: $48,000 - $69,000

Dependent on experience and education

Position Schedule: 8:00 am to 4:30 pm Monday – Friday


Position Summary

Position involves technical work of supporting the design, maintenance, deployment, and optimization of McLean County’s computer network infrastructure. Work is reviewed by the Director of Information Technologies for adherence to guidelines and program results.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Ability to design, maintain, configure, and optimize McLean County’s networking hardware and software systems, including but not limited to: switches, routers, firewalls, wireless access points, physical security systems, network security systems, internet service providers, cloud providers, network storage, and network servers.
  • Perform research on network products, services, protocols, and industry standards in support of organizational objectives.
  • Diagnoses problems with network hardware and software and performs repairs and upgrades when required.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and tactfully with officials, departments, and co-workers.
  • Works well with help desk, network security, and network infrastructure personnel.
  • Performs according to established procedures, technical guidelines, and state laws.
  • Performs related work as required.

 Required Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED Certificate.
  • 3+ years work experience in professional IT environment

    Preferred Qualifications

  • CCNA certification or equivalent work experience
  • Experience with HPE Aruba networking solutions including switches, routers, Mobility Master, and Clearpass.
