On August 28, 2017, McLean County Government launched a new online career site.  This portal will allow you to create a personal profile/account, save information to that profile, apply for posted positions, and learn more about working for McLean County.  All applicants (including those with previous accounts on our other system) must create an account.  This allows you to easily save information and documents and easily apply for positions.

McLean County has a workforce of approximately 800 people serving the community as office support, probation officers, nurses, engineers, park attendants, corrections officers, accountants, law enforcement, and much more.  This site updates frequently -- please sign up for automated updates on open positions.

Human Resources Manager

Minimum beginning salary of $60,991.51 with additional considerations depending on education and experience.


The County Administrator’s office of McLean County Government, in Bloomington, Illinois, is recruiting for a Human Resources Manager to lead the human resources functions of the County.

The County Administrator’s office is in the heart of downtown Bloomington, in the McLean County/City of Bloomington Government complex and near the McLean County Law and Justice Center.  On the Connect Transit bus route, the Government Center is also a short ride from Uptown Normal, IL and Uptown Station (with daily Amtrak service).  This position offers Monday-Friday, daytime hours, with occasional evening hours as needed.

This position, with direction from the County Administrator, will partner with McLean County leadership to execute the County’s human resource and talent strategy, particularly as it relates to future talent needs, recruiting, retention, and succession planning.  In addition, the position will provide support and policy guidance to management and staff when complex and specialized questions arise.  And, the position will create and implement staff development and training initiatives.

Minimally qualified applicants will have:

  • A bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business, or related field
  • Excellent interpersonal, negotiation, and conflict resolution skills
  • A minimum of three years of human resource management experience preferred
  • Strong knowledge of the Microsoft Office Suite

Well-qualified applicants will have:

  • Master’s degree in public administration, business or related field
  • Four to seven years of human resource management experience
